About Abu Dhabi Coach L.J.

Personal Trainer in Abu Dhabi LJ is originally from from South Africa. His approach to personal fitness coaching is different, he’s not one of those screaming, ranting and raving, “give me one more rep!” over the top, in-your-face type of trainers. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it’s just not his style.

LJ takes a look at your lifestyle, your habits and your current level of physical activity before creating a personalised fitness program for weight loss, increased flexibility, balanced nutrition, muscle gain and more. 

With more than 17 years of experience in the fitness industry LJ has worked with hundreds of clients from all over the world. Helping them get in great shape through weight management, strength and flexibility coaching.

LJ sessions are fun and he’s a very easy-going coach but make no mistake about it, he will be working you very hard and expecting a lot from you, but, training sessions are done at your pace on the given day and ideally with a big smile on your face.

LJ specialises in sensible fitness basics and extremely effective exercises that can be done at home or in the great outdoors with little or no equipment.

His training philosophy is built on:

1) High intensity resistance training.

2) A mixture of endurance cardio and high intensity intervals.

3) Proprioception work (balance).

4) Plyometric work (explosive strength).

5) Functional flexibility and restoring lost mobility.

6) Lots and lots of core focused exercises (all movement starts from the core!).

7) Variety, variety, variety and more variety! The spice of life!

8) His belief that anyone can reach their strength, fitness and weight-loss goals by sticking to his basics, working hard and above all working smart!


As part of his personal training service, LJ provides excellent nutrition support and advice. He likes to have a chat with his clients about their diet at least once a week (every session when the client is new) to see where they are going wrong or what they need to add.

It’s usually the same suspects (too many carbs, too little calories, improper hydration etc.). If there is one thing that has never worked with any of his clients over all these years it is the dreaded meal-plan approach. 

People have a problem sticking with a meal plan so LJ prefers to give his clients useful lifestyle eating habits that actually helps them create successful eating patterns for the times when life isn’t perfect. This way you can make the best food choices in all circumstances.

Very effective exercise routines

Training with Louis, is one of the best things my partner and I have done. We started training with Louis to improve our health and increase our strength and stamina. After one month’s training (3 sessions per week), we noticed a big difference mentally and physically. To fit training into our schedules we train at 5am. We won’t lie, the first 2 and a half weeks were tough. We were tired and sore, we were out of condition and we were asking a lot from our bodies but we knew it was the best thing for us. I have worked with Louis for five sessions now. My goal was to tone up, lose weight and exercise my weak hip muscles, (which after a hip operation have been tricky!). I am 51 years old and have tried all sorts of exercise, Body Pump, Aerobics, step aerobics, yoga, as well as heavy gym sessions with the machine. Tough but very effective workouts

I started training with Louis around 2 and half months ago (2 sessions per week) as after moving to UAE from UK I was finding it very difficult to stay healthy and was putting on weight due to lack of movement in my lifestyle and not being able to find many healthy eating options here. I’ve never been a gym person and not being able to go walking or running outside gave me the idea of personal training at home which is when I stumbled across Louis’s website. Louis is a great trainer, a very friendly guy and makes you feel very comfortable from day 1. His training sessions are tough, but he works at your pace and level and pushes you to your maximum. Not only does he give excellent training sessions but also gives great advice on being healthy in general. I started out, like most people, focusing on wanting to lose weight but after a few sessions with Louis my focus shifted and I became more and more motivated to becoming fit and strong. Fun and different sessions

I recently had a heart procedure which required me to rest for 2 months, right after that I was instructed by my doctor to start exercising. Changed my thinking about food

In our quest for the body beautiful we overlook and forget so much. Many people look to personal training only as a weight loss solution and forget the real value it brings to their lives. Great weight loss and strength results

After a few years of a totally sedentary lifestyle I finally overcame the lethargy and decided it was time for some action. I came across Louis and his innovative methods just by chance and what a chance it was !! I have just completed 12 sessions with Louis and the results have been phenomenal. Seeing a difference after just 3 weeks

I have always tried to train myself but after being dedicated to the cause of getting my body into shape for 3 months and still seeing no results, I lost all interest and motivation. But with my body going south at a rapid rate, I knew I had to do something and that’s when I found Louis. Although I have only been training with Louis for 3 weeks, I am already starting to see the difference. I can’t say I look forward to every session (who looks forward to exercise?!) but it is much easier when you have someone pushing you and helping you to do the right exercises. Louis is great at motivating me and pushes me hard, but also knows my limits. I come away from every session feeling exhausted, but really good and know that my body has had a really good workout.

I look and FEEL better!

I am 65 years old and have practiced many sports at a reasonable level all my life, and I am therefore used to hard exercise. For various reasons I have not been able to exercise sufficiently over the last few years and am determined to get back in shape. I have now been training with Louis for 5 sessions over a two week period and am very pleased indeed with the results. I look better, but more importantly I already feel better and this is exactly what I wanted when I started with Louis.
