Born and bred in Scotland UK, Jonny has been working in the fitness industry for over 12 years during which time he graduated with a degree in sport and physical activity and a post graduate diploma in physical education.

Jonny's Certifications & Personal Training Experience:

Jonny comes from a huge sporting background where he played semi-professional football at both club and University level. He studied at University for 5 years in Scotland where he obtained an Honours Degree in Sport and Physical Activity and then a PDGE in Physical Education.

Outside of being a qualified PE Teacher, Jonny has been a Level 3 qualified Personal Trainer since 2004 and worked with literally hundreds of individual and groups of clients within the UK and Middle East.

Where can you provide personal training services?

Jonny is a Personal Trainer based in Abu Dhabi who provides a mobile service. This flexibility allows personal training sessions to be arranged at your home, at your building gym, outdoors or at the Vogue Fitness Gym on Yas Island.

Do you provide a fitness evalutation before I start?

Yes – a full health, fitness and lifestyle evaluation is provided for Jonny’s Abu Dhabi personal training clients to assess and identify key information. This includes a FMS (Functional Movement Screen), BodyFat percentage, and where applicable, Fitness Evaluations. During this session you can also ask questions and discuss your goals with Jonny.

Do you bring the exercise equipment to the PT sessions?

Jonny will come to your training location fully equipped with the necessary tools to aid your transformation.

Do you provide nutritional and diet information?

Yes. Jonny provides nutritional and diet advice based on your goals and dietary requirements. Nutrition goes hand in hand with fitness if you are to reach your goals, and Jonny will help and advise you every step of the way.

Do you provide discounts for group training?

Yes! Group training has countless benefits such as additional support, less cost and group dynamics. If you would like to train in a group then please contact Jonny for his current group training prices.

Can I pre-book weekly personal training times?

Yes. It is advised that you do so to ensure your training time slots are available at a time to suit your schedule.

What if I need to cancel a personal training session?

Cancellations should be made 24 hours in advance in order to avoid being charged for the session. Sessions that are canceled within the agreed cancellation period will be rescheduled according to availability.

    For many years I have been wanting to get fitter and back in shape. Going to the gym was somewhat overwhelming as I was not confident using most of the equipment and generally did not know what I should be doing. Training with Jonny has been very enjoyable and fruitful. He makes sessions interesting which kept me focused and engaged. I saw more progress in 4 weeks of personal training with Jonny than I did running 5km every other day for 6 months. His sessions are short and intense. Long drawn out sessions tended to make me lose motivation. Jonny is able to adapt sessions to the surrounding environment so no need for sophisticated gym equipment.

    I initially met Jonny at a group boot camp class when he worked  in Doha. Having trialled the sessions I was keen to do more. I started up personal training sessions with Jonny and continued to have these for over three years. I loved the variety to his sessions, it kept me on my toes and I did not get bored! There was a good mix of cardio and weights and during the cooler months we did activities outside which I thoroughly enjoyed. He was very encouraging and ensured I worked hard! Most importantly during my time with Jonny, I lost a high percentage of body fat and started to feel confident in myself again. At the beginning, my eating was all over the place which was another reason I was never seeing results but he gave me great nutritional advice and helped me with a food plan which completely changed my attitude towards food. I would recommend Jonny to anyone who is keen to change their habits and wants to get fit and healthy.

    I can highly recommend Jonny as a fitness professional. He personalises each of his training sessions to suit his clients and was very patient with me - varying each session to make it fun whilst ensuring I was pushed to work the hardest I could. I was never a big fan of exercise but I am glad I worked with Jonny. I was my most fit whilst training with him and I actually started to enjoy all the sessions! Something I thought I'd never say!

    'Over the past several years we have had numerous personal trainers and we can confidently say that Jonny and his energetic personality has been so far the most consistent and rewarding personal trainer to work with. Jonny's knowledge of both dietary, physical fitness and form is second to none and in addition to that his energy and professionalism at each session makes it something to look forward to. Not something you can say about most training sessions! Jonny takes into consideration what your end goals are and works towards them with great success through meticulous planning of the routines so you can get the results you want to achieve. I guess the proof is in the PBs (Personal Bests) we have smashed and the physical fitness and form we have now taken on. Great work Jonny, thanks'

    'We had never worked out together before but following the birth of our second daughter, and considering the little free time we have, we thought we would give personal training a try. Jonny has been our personal trainer in Abu Dhabi and we are extremely happy with the workouts he puts together for us. We had an initial consultation with him before we started the programme where we discussed our fitness needs. He has since done an excellent job translating those into workouts that are well prepared, varied, and focused on helping us achieve our goals. What we enjoy most is the fact that he uses diverse training methods to keep things interesting. He comes to each session with a fresh set of creative techniques that are both challenging and fun. What we also like about the sessions is that even though we are training together, Jonny makes sure we are working out to our individual fitness levels. From not having exercised in years, we now exercise together even on days when we don't have a session with him. Thanks to Jonny, our attitude towards exercise, and ultimately our lifestyle, is changing for the better!'

    'Jonny is an amazing personal trainer. He pushes me to work so much harder than I can on my own. His personally tailored workouts and plans are varied and intense – keeping me interested while killing me lol! As a person with back problems, I find his careful attention to my form makes me more confident in pushing myself hard without worrying about getting injured as well as I know i'm getting the full benefit of the exercise. I also really like how he encourages me to be involved in and responsible for my development – laziness is not something he tolerates. You can tell he really cares about you – wants you to not just improve while he's working with you, but to become fit for life. I strongly recommend him as a personal trainer in Abu Dhabi for anyone who wants to take their fitness to the next level – he's already got me there is ways I didn't know I could achieve!'

    'My name is Mapie, female 57 years old. In May 2012, I had a major back surgery. I had a scoliosis and they reduced my curve by implanting two long rods and 26 screws from the middle of my shoulder blades to my sacrum. It was scary but I was lucky, the 5 hours surgery went well. I was even luckier to meet Jonny Parr. He is my personal trainer since the surgery and I was amazed by his knowledge and his patience. He is very dedicated to his clients, taking one step after the other to help me, to encourage me…and I needed it. At first I wasn't able to keep my balance and to walk very well. It's a long process but I feel stronger every day.I can't thank him enough for the help he gave me and still give me. He is a very capable young man, you can trust him, believe me!'

    I always wanted to get into the routine of working out but I dreaded going to the gym. I wanted to lose weight and tone up but did not know where or how to start. I used to spend so much time on the treadmill or the elliptical but to burn so little calories that I would gain right back by the first snack I consume. It was a struggle for me for a long time till I met Jonny Parr, I took one to one PT classes with him and also attended his Bootcamp classes. He took my measurement and weight prior to starting and after 2 and half weeks, I’ve lost almost 7 lbs and my overall strength and fitness has improved so much in a short period of time. I also learned to perform the right technique of many exercises that I wouldn’t have attempted on my own. I felt better about myself, became more energetic, gained more definition and most importantly, I enjoyed and longed to attend the class each day. Believe it or not my mood changed for the better and I am eating healthier food, I recommend wholeheartedly Jonny’s PT classes and Boot Camps without reservation!
